For first year students, university-owned student accomodation is usually a good option! Costs vary, but they run as low as £126 per week to £179 per week. This covers a broad range of living styles such as shared bathrooms, ensuite and studio living. So, there's a lot of options to suit a lot of budgets! As a first year student, given that you firmed Cardiff, you're pretty much guaranteed accomodation. Private accomodation is slightly more competitive, and the best time to search is probably October - December time.
