sugar's a-level gyg! 📑🌷📚

hiya! not really sure how to do one of these but I'm hoping to grow my grades going into year 13 :]

(based on mocks) my current a-levels grades are:
- sociology - D+
- psychology - B
- english lit - E

so... we aren't doing too great! my psy/soc teacher reckons I could get B's and that's as high as she's willing to predict, but I need A's to get into top uni's so that's been a bit of a wake-up call.

anyways, I'm starting this study blog in the hopes of improving that, so I'll keep updating with what I'm doing to better myself & my grades! :h:

Hi, welcome! I didn’t do these subjects, so am quite limited on advice for these. But keep updating with your study journey and ask if you need any general revision advice.

Hiya!! Good luck with Y13. I’d like to share a little story from at teacher at my school. At the end of Year 12 he got CDD in maths, biology and chemistry, but in the end got all A*s!!! He told me that improvement is 100% doable it’s just how you manage your time and putting your head down!

Hope this helps!

If you do aqa I recommend a YouTube channel called THESOCIOLOGYTEACHER because she goes through the structures to answer each type of question- following her videos helped me to get predicted an A* so hopefully her videos can help you too 😁

heyy! tried searching sugar.water and it came up with a 20 year old needing life advice, realised it was the wrong thing and just searched gyg and found it :'') best of luck for everything, and yeaa as everyones been saying its only the actual a-levels that really matter in the endd, plus you seem pretty positive so keep that goinggg :five: do you have another set of mocks coming uppp and how is sociology? (wanted to do it when i heard it was a subject, sadly our school doesn't offer it :banghead:). alsooo is there any course in particular you're thinking of doing? anddd hows all the extra stuff going (like personal statement heh)

hiii! thank you! honestly for all that the actual a-levels matter, they really do scare us with predicteds (in that its based on those you get into uni 🥲) also thank you, i try to be an optimist about things, i haven't got another set of mocks until december, but i may be able to do another mock for english, and my psy/soc teacher says she will consider an predicting A's only if i get consistent strong A's in all my assessments in year 13, so i definitely need to start working more to prove i'm capable  ! sociology is very interesting but also a huge pain, and my old school didn't offer it either so i was super happy when i got to take it and didn't even think about how rough it might be! 😅
also as for courses i do want to do a degree in psychology but i haven't a clue where so i guess thats another job for summer (i should probably post my list of summer tasks to do asw). i've started on my personal statement and boy am i glad they changed the way we write them because otherwise i wouldnt have a clue what to say :u: (sidenote: i'm looking at tsr emojis and these are really cool- look at this one! :fight: and this :coffee: :woohoo: )

frrrr im so done with it :cry:ahkk niceeee never too late :yeah: yeahh honestly psychology at my school sounds rough, so many ppl have been dropping and someone ik had to take a huge mental health break bc of it (which i think is kinda ironic, its about the mind??) yeahh good idea :0 what kinda modules might u be looking for in a psychology degree (likee do u like a lot of neuroscience orr im assuming maybe some other stuff would interest u thats more sociology related?) exactlyy the one before could literally be anything (and yeahhh once u start ur tsr emoji excavation the fun never ends :headfire:)

hiii, sorry for replying so late! also psychology can be really tough, im thankful we do eduqas because i know aqa psychology is suuuperrr content heavy. as far as modules go im thinking like psychoanalysis stuff? I'm not super sure what that would be listed as but things that would help in treating patients as i'd like to be a therapist (and hopefully one day a clinical psychologist) :u:

also as an update to this thread, i took some time away from doing schoolwork for a bit, but I'm back now & i've been looking at different universities (watching tours, and youtube videos from students/ex students about each uni & making notes). I'm going for a good uni in a nice historic town so that does help narrow things down a bit! and today i'll be starting an nhs cadets course! over the next few days i've got a plan for english, so today i'll be looking at angela carter and doing some exam questions, tomorrow hamlet, and then frankenstein and prep for rosetti & duchess of malfi. I also plan to try and get the homework i've been set all sorted so i have nothing to worry about going back to school and honestly atp my goal for a-levels is just memorise as much content as i possibly can! so thats the goal for the moment! hope everyone's doing well!! -sugar :gthumb:
