Chemistry ocr a alevel 2025!did you find this years papers harder than 2024?

How did this year June 2025 OCR A chemistry A level exam compare to the 2024 past papers for ocr a chemistry a levels , I would love to hear everyone opinions on if it was easier or harder than this years . I personally thought paper 1 was similar to 2024 or maybe 2025 was slightly easier . For paper 2 this is an odd one I personally found this years paper 2 harder compared to 2024 paper 2 past paper but I have heard mixed opinions on this . For paper 3 I think 2025 was harder than 2024 past paper 3 . I just want try gauge how the grade boundaries could differ from 2024. Anyone who completed ocr a chemistry A levels 2025 this June and have done the 2024 past papers I would love to here your opinions on the difference in difficulties .

I found paper 1 and 2 fine personally both in 2024 and 2025, paper 3 was the hardest one I’ve done I think but I think it went fairly well, doesn’t help how tired and burnt out I was by the end haha

I know I was so burnt out at least its over now ! Did you feel as if paper 1 and 2 for 2024 and 2025 were on par with each other or the same kind of difficulty? By the way thank you so much for your response

Haha it’s okay! Yeah I felt they were similar difficulty to last years! What ither subjects did you take?

I think last year was easier, they had easier questions compared to this years, they had a 6 marker on showing nucleophillic addition or smthing like that, their paper 1, there was not alot of hard stuff, we had a buffer question which usually comes every year, last year it didnt come up

I would say boundaries go down by like 3, i dont think they would go up

Hi, I took the actual 2024 exams and I resat chemistry again this year 2025!

Having done both, I’d say the 2024 papers were objectively easier than the 2025 papers we sat this year. Paper 3 of 2025 might be one of the hardest paper 3s to date, so I really doubt boundaries will stay similar, they’ll drop if anything. 2024 papers had no tricks or obstacles, whereas I found paper 2 and 3 of 2025 to have a lot more room for error. Having said this, I felt more prepared this year compared to last, so for me, I found the 2025 papers to be easier, but I can also gauge how the papers were meant to feel in comparison to 2024 and that’s why I said they were harder! We’ll be fine 🙂

Paper 3 was pretty straightforward. The majority of the questions have been previously assessed in some capacity, such as the 5 marker pH question or the 6 marker Hess cycle. Accounting for natural grade inflation, and the fact that the paper was similar in difficulty when compared to 2024, I’m expecting grade boundaries to rise to 217/218. I would be shocked if the boundaries fell.

The majority of students have this misconception of grade boundaries not being able to surpass a given threshold. The examiners do not give a shite about you. I think people this year will be in for a surprise. To be safe I think you need 220+

I think 2025 was definitively harder in both paper 2+3

The grade boundaries you are referring to is for an A grade I'm presuming?
