Results Day Tips

Hi everyone!

My name is Ishrat and I'm a student ambassador and BSc Psychology graduate from City, University of London. As you're aware, results day is approaching for many, so here are a few tips to help you prepare beforehand and on the day:

1) Jot down some clearing numbers- although the thought of not getting into your firm choice of uni can be daunting, it's always good to have a few backup options, just in case. In a notebook or on a piece of paper, jot down the courses you are interested in, the entry requirements and whether you meet them

2) Following on from the first point, make sure to have the relevant details that you need at hand, like your clearing number, so it's less of a hassle on the day. It would also be helpful to draft a few sentences on why you want to join the course

3) Make sure that you check your UCAS track early, otherwise the queue can get too long

4) Don't panic and end up making the wrong decision. If you don't end up going to your first choice of uni, take the time to think through the options available to you, such as a foundation year or deferring a year. Don't make decisions so quickly and easily and accept anything

5) Talk to your teachers!! They are there to support you and guide you. Ask them for advice and tell them your thought process. Sometimes, it's good to get a second opinion before choosing what you want to do

6) CELEBRATE! You've worked so hard to get here, so go out and celebrate with your friends and family, or celebrate solo. Take advantage of the results day discounts that some places offer.

I hope these tips have been helpful. Please feel free to add any more that I may have missed. I wish you the best on results day and know that you should all be so proud of yourselves.

Best wishes,
Ishrat (City UoL Rep)
