Midwifery footwear

Hi, I’m beginning my midwifery degree in September and am trying to get myself organised. Can anyone recommend shoes for placement please?

I’m doing nursing and I got these for my placements and they’ve been brilliant very comfortable and wipeable and the uni has had no problems with them. The only thing I will say is that they’re not breathable so I get sweaty feet (when I normally don’t) in the spring/summer months.

Hi Mika ☺️ ☺️

Congrats on getting into midwifery as it's a very difficult course to get into.....

I would recommend either sketchers or Clarks for comfortable shoes for nursing as they are good for when you are on your feet all day 😉.

Depending on what your uniform policy is for the hospital trust you'll be working in you might be able to wear either shoes or trainers but check what the uniform policy is okay and then decide to buy which one you want to wear as some only allow shoes and others both.

I wore sketchers trainers since the day I started my midwife degree and found them very comfortable to wear all day. I obviously been qualified for a number of years now and I still wear sketchers trainers on the ward but have to swap them over when in theatre with a Emergency or planned C-sections as not allowed in Theatre with shoes or trainers.
