do i have a shot at cambridge? be honest pls

gcses: 9 (eng lang) 8 (history), 7 (maths,chem,bio,french,eng lit), 6(physics)
a levels: A*A*A*A(maths, further maths, chemsitry, physics respectively)
if i get an esat score above 7,
do i have a shot at cambridge even though my gcse grade are lower than the avrg for cambridge esp with maths and physics?

i have good extracurriculars in engineering such as projects with big engineering companies like bae systems and british airways, and academic enrichment programmes like stem smart, and engineering projects with uni of bath.

i just wanna know if it'll be worth applying as i dont really want to waste one option on my ucas
I would just say that if you want to go to Cambs, have a decent overall profile, applied and then got rejected - then it wasn’t a waste of an option.

You don’t need to get five offers back, and the usually advice is to apply to at least one aspirational choice.

Your GCSEs are mostly 9/8/7 grades just the odd 6 in GCSE Physics might be a concern but you've got 3A* 1A predicted and that exceeds the entry requirements. So, you should apply, you might even get made an offer if your admissions test and interview goes well. 😉

i'll be so honest an esat score above 7 is very very unlikely with a 7 in gcse maths. many people who finished gcse maths papers with over 30mins to spare dont even end up getting that high in esat. dont underestimate the time pressure. also u have to do maths 2 for engineering which seems quite hard for someone who didnt find gcse maths easy. also a 6 in physics with only A predicted is v weak for engineering. overall ur gcses are much lower than the avg successful applicant.

(im a natsci applicant also preparing for esat chemistry, maths 1, maths 2. gcses 10 9s and an 8 in eng lang)

it doesnt hurt to try though, cambridge interviews a high % of applicants. if u do well in esat u might have a chance since the interview i would say is 60% of ur application. definitely worth applying. ur overall profile is not weak at all for most universities and will for sure receive at least 1 of 5 offers so u can just use one for cambridge
