Uni with caring responsibilities?

I started my degree at the start of lockdown and I wasn’t able to finish due to my caring responsibilities at home. I’m not looking to go back but I’m trying to figure out what’s best. My main concern if that i wouldn’t be able to self fund and I don’t think I can get student finance a second time around. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How many years (or part years) of previous study do you have and what subject are you thinking of studying?

The calculation for a new course is:

Length of new course + 1 - previous study

For example, for a new 3-year course the calc would be: 3 + 1 - 3 = 1 year of both tuition fee and maintenance loans. For the first two years of study, you would have to pay the tuition fees but you could still apply for maintenance loans.

You might be apply to for an additional year of tuition support if you have evidence to support a compelling personal reasons claim for caring responsibilities.

Some degrees (e.g. nursing, midwifery, radiography, physio, OT, etc.) are exceptions to this and would be fully funded. Studying part time is also an option - some psychology courses would qualify. Once you have a better idea of what you would like to study and where, post the details in the Ask Student Finance England forum and an official SFE/SLC rep will be able to confirm what funding you would be eligible for.
