Uniformed and public services

Hi, I am currently studying for a level 3 extended diploma in uniformed and public services. My original plan was to either join the police or the army, but now I'm considering going to university. I am mainly interested in politics and philosophy or politics and international relations. The only problem is I'm not sure which if any university's would consider my application with the qualification I'm studying for. So I was wondering if there're any degrees I could do with a btec in uniformed and public services. I'm aiming to get about D*D*D by the end of year 13. Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou

The best way to find this out is to look at the entry requirements for courses of interest and see if a btec will be accepted.

Hey Lydia,

Here at Liverpool Hope University we accept people based primarily on their UCAS Tariff Points, so as long as you reach the UCAS Tariff points required with the Level 3 you are studying you're all good to go study Politics & International Relations or Politics and Global Philosophies & Worldviews - at the moment some of the the entry requirements are lower during this years' clearing period, but usually the standard entry requirements for these degrees are around 104 UCAS Tariff Points with 120 UCAS Tariff Points for some of our degrees (subject to change, so make sure you check to be sure in October or whenever you'll be applying for university through UCAS! Or this time next year through clearing!).

I hope this helps, and feel free to check out all of our Undergraduate courses and their requirements to see if there is anything else for you that you might be interested in on top of the above!

As a Politics and IR graduate, I would highly recommend the course, but the Global Philosophies and Worldviews does sounds fascinating too, any questions let me know!

All the best wishes for the future,

You will just have to trawl through the relevant University course pages and check the entry requirements for the course/subject that you want to do. There are no short-cuts to this.

Be aware that many Unis will not accept 'Uniformed Services' for any of their courses - they regard it as a vocational subject and without enough 'academic' content for preparation for a degree course. If it isn't obvious that they wont accept this BTEC, just email the Uni admissions office and ask - don't guess or just 'assume'.
