How difficult is the GRE and can I realistically prepare in a month or two?

I am a British (domestic) student about to carry out a M.Phil. in Sociology. I would really like to leave the U.K. and stay move to the U.S. to do a PhD and also take up a Professorship (hopefully) as, ideally, would love to stay in academia and work as a sociologist publishing.

A concern I have with some of the American universities I am interested in (e.g., Yale, Chicago, Harvard, Cornell, etc) they all require GRE scores and usually quite high scores. How do I go about this? Where do I do it? I can't do it from home and I know this is an option. What websites are there to look at to find information? I feel so panicked because I didn't realise (due to timeframes) I would have to do this ASAP before I submit applications due December 01 (most are due around then)...

To be honest, I hate maths (but at the same time love computational sociology and quantitative statistics) but still dreading the quantitative section of the GRE. Verbal reasoning seems so hard to me because I have oral dyspraxia...!!! In other words, could I realistically get 160/160+ in both main sections (analytical section is apparently easy) with two months prep?
