Hi there,

I would definitely recommend reading some of the pages and resources on McGinger's thread. However here is UCAS' guide to clearing for international students in addition to those resources.

Clearing is the way that UK unis aim to match eligible applicants to places on courses that have not been filled in the main cycle.

People can use clearing if:

they're applying after 30th June

have not applied in the main cycle

did not meet the grades of their conditional offers

did apply in the main cycle, make a firm and insurance choice but have changed their mind about where they want to go or what they want to study

There are many clearing places available at many unis for international students, so be sure to check out UCAS search to take a look through courses you might want to apply for. If you are interested in a course, usually there is a form to fill out or a phone number to ring - if you follow these steps and are deemed eligible for the course you will get a verbal clearing offer. You can ring up multiple unis and collect these verbal offers before deciding which one you'd like to go forward with. When you've made your decision, then you can add it on UCAS as a clearing choice in the 'my choices' section.

I hope this helps a bit, best of luck with next steps and please shout if you have any questions after reading a few of McGinger's resources 🙂
