Personal Statement question - HSPS

Hi!

I'm a year 12 student tentatively considering applying for HSPS at Cambridge. All four of my other applications would be for History & Politics - does anyone have any advice as to how I should structure my PS in order to ensure it is applicable to both courses? I'm really afraid of leaning too far in one direction and jeopardising my other applications.
I know that Cambridge offers the opportunity to submit a second PS; as this would be entirely focused on HSPS, do I need to mention HSPS in my primary PS at all?

Thank you so much!

If you plan on submitting an additional PS for HSPS, I’d only make links where they are obvious and if they flow nicely, but other than that, you don’t need to mention HSPS as a degree. Cambridge acknowledge that your normal UCAS personal statement won’t be tailored to HSPS in most cases, which is why they give you the optional additional one (note that it is significantly shorter). The only query they may have, should you make it to interview stage, would be why you’ve chosen to apply for HSPS instead of history and politics there, which is something you may wish to address implicitly in your additional PS.
