Primary Education(qts) Unis?

Hi! I'm going to be a 2026 applicant for university and I want to pursue primary teaching as a career as I am really incredibly passionate about it. However researching this course, as a woman of colour with religion, I'm abit dissapointed with the lack of representation and diversity showcased. I would just like to know If these courses are usually diverse or even a little bit or some universities that are diverse with their students as this personally means so much to me as an individual. Its not stereotyping or any type of hate I just would like to see someone like me in the courses where I study🥲. So if any universities would like to comment or any student ambassadors that'd be great thank you! <3

Hi Shay.abd,

My names Tilly and I’m a Primary Education student at Liverpool John Moores. I understand your concerns about the lack of diversity in Higher Education.

From my personal experience the School of Education has a very diverse student and staff body. In my lectures there are staff & students from all different religions, ethnicities, ages and genders.

LJMU also have a Diversity and Inclusion Team who work proactively within the University community to embed equality, diversity and inclusivity practices. Throughout the year the team organise a series of events, workshops, and conferences to ensure a culture that embraces diversity is embedded throughout the university

Within the student union we also have a diverse range of student community groups such as the Ethnically Diverse Student Community, the International Student Community, African-Caribbean Community, Pakistani Community and many more! There are also faith based student communities which hold regular socials and celebrations over Eid, Christmas, Diwali ect.

Hope this is helpful and best of luck with your university search!
