MacBook for an Electrical Engineering degree?

Might be a bit of a dumb question but should I get a MacBook for my electrical engineering degree or should I just get a thinkpad?

You can get either, you will be ok with general office related applications, but technical engineering software tools are by and large windows (their are some open source Linux ones as well) but overwhelming the major technical tools are windows based.
Unless you have a specific reason to go to the os x ecosystem for example you already use certain software not available on windows then id recommend windows as the option which will provide you the most flexibility & options. If you go with MacBook it may mean using university PCs for coursework (not a problem it just reduces your freedom to work where you want).

I wouldn’t suggest it majority of the software only run on windows you will need a virtual machine software if you decide to go for a Mac

Have you tried asking the people who run the course or looking at the course to see what’s required and to see if a MacBook meets the criteria?

I echo the comments on getting windows though (more flexibility if it’s not a Microsoft one + I personally don’t like MacBooks in general).
