Funding for 2nd degree

Hello,
I have a diploma of higher education in Economics and I passed 1st and 2nd year but failed 3rd year twice due to severe mental health issues (so I’ve used 4 years of funding). Would I be eligible for funding for a second degree in a science subject in the future. Could I get funding even if the 2nd degree was a full time course ?

Hi there. Do you know what kind of science course you are looking to study? Have you ever provided any evidence of your health issues in the past for your previous applications to show why you had to repeat the year?

Thanks, Leah.

Hi Leah, I’m interested in studying Bsc Biology. And yes I did provide evidence of my health issues when I repeated the year.

Hi upsidedown_,

If you study biological sciences part time, we disregard any previous study that you have.

If you are looking to study full time, we will take your previous study into account.

We wouldn't include the CPR year ( the year you provided evidence for) however, if you were to start a new course, it would be the course length, plus an additional year, minus your 3 years previous study.

If the course was 3 years for example, it would be 3+1-3= 1 year. That means you would need to self fund the first 2 years of the course, as you wouldn't receive the Tuition Fee Loan for that year. You can also provide CPR for any applicable years if you wish to request that the Tuition Fee Loan is awarded for those years.

Thanks, Clare
