I didn't get a tutor from here but honestly you can get a grade 9 without one as there are so many free good resources and youtube channels online. the same goes for pmt tutors, i didn't have one since they were all like £40+ per hour and thats not really worth it since you can get a grade 9 without tuition. You can also ask your teachers for help. You just need to keep working hard and don't let procrastination get to you!! For maths you can use websites such as MathsUpgrade, MathsGenie and ExamQ and you can watch 1stClassMaths (who also has a great website) and GCSE Maths Tutor on youtube, and just keep practicing. For english you can watch Jen Chan and DystopiaJunkie for literature, and Mr Salles for english language. You also need to always be asking your english teacher what the feedback they have given you actually means and how you can improve bc a lot of the time its very very vague. You should probably check out these websites and channels during the holidays and see whether you find them useful or whether tutor would be better.

Also to get a grade 9 in english you should defo re-read the entire texts and poems again and make online flashcards briefly summarising each chapter/main event bc to get the top marks you need to be really perceptive and really specific about your points and choose the best quote that links with your idea and that requires having knowledge of the entire text. Don't be disheartened if your on grade 6 rn bc there is soo much time for you to improve and get a grade 9 🙂

Thank youuu girl for your reply ❤️ . I sometimes struggle with exam style questions for maths which makes me totally lose motivation also considering ive moved areas then exam boards were a bit different. So i thought about a tutor i found one that takes 30 pound per hour for maths yet edspace does group lessons in much less. But i agree with u its possible without them i do use maths genie first class etc and try to do exam questions too!

It's totally normal to struggle with maths as its not an easy subject, just remember that practice makes perfect. Start practicing the lower grade 4-6 topics as those are easier but as people tend to focus on the grade 8-9 topics they forget the grade 4-6 ones. Also, some of the higher level questions are a mix of lots of topics including the lower grade ones. You just need to break the question down into steps and work from there which ik is easier said than done but you'll get the hang of it eventually, even if your completely stuck on a question aim to get at least the first few marks as thats better then not attempting the question at all. Remember formulas and conversions aswell, you should make online flashcards for these and test yourself every once in a while, this is great form of active recall and you will end up remembering it in no time! I'm not sure if this is the same for your exam board but i did edexcel and i found that after doing multiple past papers there were so many questions that were just repeated but with different numbers, but you should focus on single topics before moving to past papers with mixed exam style questions.

Oh and i forgot to add that you might want to consider doing corbettmaths 5 a day, it has different levels of difficulty based on your ability and it only takes around 10-20min which is still great practice if you're feeling demotivated.

There are no 'magic bullets' for getting high grades.

Just do the work.

i'm currently in MyEdSpace's Summer School and, so far, it's pretty good. i'll be learning the curriculum for my GCSEs this year, so it's good to get ahead and understand things a lot better! obviously, it's way cheaper than the average tutor. i think it's £5 an hour, and, as there are two lessons for each subject a week, that's £10 for every subject you do. but, my mum made me take them all since, apparently, it's way cheaper.

they give you multiple choice homework to complete with homework solutions and they walk us through the process of answering exam-style questions with a workbook that's easily accessible and downloadable!

however, I do think that a con of MyEdSpace is the chat and how many people are on each lesson. the teachers don't do it on purpose, but it can be easy to be ignored when you want to ask a question, because (from my experience) people talk off-topic ALL the time and fill up the chat with random nonsense (they can be put on timeout by some of the moderators tho).

i do think you can thrive by yourself by watching certain YouTube channels, like Cognito etc, and, whatever you choose to do, i'm hoping that you can pull off the grades you want at the end of the day.

good luck!

Hi, I'm currently an A level student and I tutor GCSE Maths at a low rate. I got 9s in both GCSE Maths and Further Maths and I have some teaching experience so please get in touch with me if you want to get some personalised help. I can answer any specific questions about the exams or the content here if you need help.
And of course good luck with your studies😊
