Starting the STP this year (although not in cardiology). From my understanding there's a huge shortage of healthcare scientists in cardiology especially which is why they also have the shorter Echocardiography Training Programme.

After completing the scientist training programme and registering with the HCPC you can apply for clinical scientist posts in cardiology. No one is guaranteed a job after but cardiology departments often advertise posts after a trainee has finished or just offer trainees a role. You can also apply to for the HSST which would let you progress to be a consultant clinical scientist. You could apply for HCPC roles outside of cardiology like in training, research, academia, and specialised roles in cardiac science.

Thankyou so much for replying sorry it took me so long to see,
Do you mind if I ask how your course is going and how placement and university are put together like do you have a block placement of each or do you do all the university bits first then onto placement. How do you sort out accomodation for each ?

Don't think of it as a placement on a university course. It's a job with university time. So you find accommodation wherever you are working (probably renting in a house share). Accommodation for university blocks will be sorted depending on how far away the university is and if it is once a week or block placements.

But 80% of the time is spent at work.
