Student Finance Blocked

On course to start September. I sorted out student finance months ago, and an error that popped up a little while ago. They said they could not confirm my NI, so I sent the letter with evidence and I haven't had anything regarding it since. That was around 2 months ago.

Got an email today saying your application has already been approved and on track to get paid. Checked my account, everything says its approved and the checklist is all ticked except registration, as it should be. But, when I scroll down to where it details when and what you are paid it says my payments are "Blocked - We cannot pay you" and under it says I should know why. I do not, everything is given and done.

What can I do? I am unable to call and their live chat is never online when I check.

Hi there. If you check your inbox on your online student finance account, can you see if there has been any correspondence sent you? Thanks, Leah.

The last letter in the inbox was the confirm your NI letter in May, which I had sorted when it came through :[

Hi there. Is your application now fully approved? Is this the first time you have applied? Thanks, David

Everything is approved except registration and enrollment since this will be my first year at university, but blocked is still written by the individual payments. Yes, this is my first time applying :]

Thank you. This is part of the normal process. Once your application has been approved, it can take up to 2 weeks for us to validate your National Insurance Number. The payments would remain blocked for this period. If they do not unblock after this time I would advise then contacting us directly. Thanks, David

It has been over 2 weeks as I mailed the NI evidence in May as I stated previously. Not being able to get in contact with SF is why I came here, but thank you. I'll keep trying I suppose

Unfortunately, we can't access accounts on here. It should update after some time but you can keep trying to get in touch. Thanks, Leah.

Hi, I finally got in contact with someone a week or so ago, and they told me everything is fine, it will update soon and all I need to worry about it registering with my university

Today I got an email asking me to confirm my NI number despite me sending my payslip off 3 months ago with the last letter asking for it...

I don't really know what to do as the payments are still blocked since when I contacted SF they said it's fine and will update soon when it's clearly not fine despite being 3+ months since I sent my payslip

Hi there, if the National Insurance Number (NINO) validation is still in process with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) the system can auto generate notifications during this time until the validation has completed. When you had previously contacted, did they advise of an estimated update for the return? Thanks, Stephen.

The one I sent 3 months ago (in May) in response to a letter saying the DWP could not verify my NINO and needed me to confirm my details and provide documentary evidence (to which I supplied a payslip with my details, where I work, and NINO included) had the return of up to 4 weeks.

Hi again, unfortunately for to check the reason for the payment sill showing as blocked, you would need to contact us either over the phone or via live chat, as we do not have account access via social media portals to check this for you as we can only assist with general enquiries only.
Alternatively, to access our live chat service from your online account, select 'undergraduate' and then ‘contact us’.
From here you will be able to use our live chat service when it is available.
Our opening hours are stated on our ‘contact us’ page.
Once through, we will be able to check the NINO/payment status and advise the status and expected timescale/update. Stephen.

Thank you, but respectfully, contacting SF did nothing as they said there’s nothing else to send over and everything's fine, when clearly it's not.

If SF here can't help and contacting SF directly doesn't help, then who else can I go to?

I can't keep going with the waiting game as my course starts in under a month. I'm sorry but I'm really stressed now, as I've been trying to sort this for months.

Hi again, unfortunately we would require access to your account to check this for you, this can only be accessed over the phone or via live chat (due to the authentication requirements). We are open Monday to Friday, 8am to 7pm. Only once we have account access we can check the NINO status and confirm this for you. Stephen.
