which university is better for computer science , uni of southampton or uni of notts

"I'm currently transferring from a foundation year—would the University of Southampton's MEng in Computer Science or the University of Nottingham's MSci in Computer Science be a better option, especially in terms of reputation, career prospects, and long-term value?"

At this level it doesn't really matter too much. Have you visited both? Have you looked at course content? Computer science is broad, so make sure you'll be covering modules you're happy with.

Southampton does have a flashy new building with new computers though...

Another important thing to consider is if they will accept you transferring. Foundation years aren't designed to be universally accepted. No point making comparisions if they won't accept you with the foundation year.

There are different rankings and some show Trinity St David to be above Warwick which shows what an utter waste of time rankings are! Look at the average entry tariff per student to get an idea of the calibre of the students applying. For example Cambridge is 220, UCL is 199, Durham is 200 then Southampton is 180 and Nottingham is 165.

As the above poster said, it may be a lost cause anyway if they don't accept foundation students from other unis.
