UAL foundation for art and design ?

Hello,

Can anyone who completed the foundation course last year (preferably for the fashion and textiles route), say how they enjoyed the course overall? Were the tutors helpful or negligent? Expenses? Was it worth it for opportunities? Was the organization a mess considering the changes to the structure of the course? Anything would be helpful to know!!

Hello - just did the UAL foundation in fashion textiles and am now at CSM BA. I really enjoyed the course and made some of my closest friends there ! the course is pretty good i would say and well set out for creating a portfolio to go into BA. Personally my tutor was great and so supportive ! i would say it was quite expensive when it came to printing costs and everything else... you literally had to buy everything and that got quite pricey. i personally think it was worth it!

Hello,
I am a UAL student rep and know quite a few people who have done a fashion foundation and have loved it. It is a great opportunity to transition into university life while still giving yourself time to figure out what your specific interest is (in fashion for example). The tutors are there to help you out and if you need any assistance outside of your course, you can also reach out to student unions, course reps, and mental health offices - there is always someone to help. Regarding expenses, there are multiple schemes to help students out financially which you can find on the UAL website.

The opportunities at UAL are endless whether you are on a foundation or degree year. You will have access to industry standard equipment and resources as well as leading industry guest lecturers to ask all your pressing questions. I'm sure you will enjoy your time should you choose to study with us and I wish you the best with your application.
