โฐ Results Day SURVIVAL GUIDE โฐ

Knowing how to navigate Results Day and understanding the options available to you ahead of time will help you feel prepared, calm and in control.

Here are our checklists for the day: one for if you are changing plan and going through Clearing, and one for people who have got their first choice.

What would you add to the survival guide? Comment below!

Iโ€™m going through Clearing to find a different course:

1. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿต Rise and shine You can log in to UCAS at 8am on Results Day to see your offers. The next step will depend on your results and the offers you receive. Have something healthy to eat and drink if you can โ€“ it will help you focus.

2. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’กExplore new horizons with Clearing Didnโ€™t get your first choice? Want to change your mind about a course or uni? No worries! It happens to lots of people, so you are not alone. Dive into Clearing and find your new path in the courses that are available. Take your time โ€“ you do not need to rush your decision. Many courses share the same optional modules, and you may be surprised by the variety on offer. Youโ€™ve got this!

3. ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿ’ฐExplore finance and funding Funding your studies is crucial. If you change your course or university through Clearing, you need to update your student finance application as soon as possible. If you live outside of England, you'll need to contact the relevant funding body. University websites and UCAS will have further guidance on this.

I got my offer:

1. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿต Rise and shine You can log in to UCAS at 8am on Results Day to see your offers. Have something healthy to eat and drink if you can โ€“ it will help you focus.

2. ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐ŸŽ‰ Celebrate your first choice If you've secured an offer from your first-choice university, congratulations! Follow the instructions to confirm your place and get ready to embark on an exciting journey.

3. ๐Ÿ”Ž๐Ÿ’ฐExplore finance and funding Double check that your Student Finance application is up to date and any changes to your course or location of study are submitted to your relevant funding body. University websites and UCAS will have further guidance on this.

4. ๐Ÿก ๐Ÿก Secure your accommodation
Your university will send you information about accommodation options, and you can contact them if you are unsure.

Been through Results Day and Clearing before? How did you look after yourself and what top tips can you share?

Thank you, this is so simple yet extremely helpful. My child will be a first gen uni student and we are absolutely clueless on all things uni. We feel abandoned since they locked in their firm and insurance choices, there has been no communication whatsoever from the prospective unis or from their sixth form and we literally donโ€™t have a clue what to do in the time between now and starting uni so posts like these are extremely helpful!! Again, thank you!

We have an online event on 'A guide to clearing' if you wish to join that. To join, please complete the form on this Link.
Further advice: please don't view results day as something that needs to be SURVIVED. The day will have lots of emotions, but for everyone there should be an element of happiness - the closing of one chapter and the starting of a new one. Regardless of whether the results you receive are what you expected, or whether your next steps are what you had originally planned - it is a day to celebrate 2+ years of hard work and the start of something exciting.

That's why TheStudentRoom run the #BeResutsProud campaign, because results don't define you.

To everyone reading, I hope results day goes well for you and if something happens that you weren't expecting, it's okay - TheStudentRoom and many of their official reps + volunteers will help you through. Let's do more than SURVIVE it.
