At the start of the year I fell down the stairs and hurt my knee, it got dislocated and I damaged my ACL a bit. I only got results for the MRI last week (I was on a waiting list for 5 months!) so I have been walking on this bad knee since January right up to the end of the school year. Combined with an existing physical disability, this has made getting around really difficult since my knee really hurts and I can only walk like a block max.
It doesn't just hurt when walking, though, it's like every time I move the leg + dull ache in background. This makes it a bit difficult to focus in class. It also makes it difficult to fall asleep at night, so I am often very sleepy in lessons (especially combined with taking painkillers all the time)! So yeah it's kind of hard to follow along in lessons, my teachers often see me yawning in lesson and I have spilt random chemicals in practicals bc my knee buckled.
Therefore I was also very sleepy in mocks and did not do the best that I could, I even ended up going to one exam 15 mins late bc I fell on the other side of school!
Because I was on that wait list for stupidly long I don't have a bunch of evidence, I have the MRI scan + report and a letter from my SENCO but I've only started being referred places for the knee now. I'm also early deadline so that doesn't help either.
I have good grades at GCSE (9999998887) and good predicted grades (A*A*AA) but I don't have A* in the subject I need. I'm hoping that shows good academic potential or whatever, and I was hoping having extenuating circumstances would make up for it. Do you think it is worth applying?
