Tips from a Creative Writing Student

Hi everyone!

I have recently graduated from studying a BA (hons) in Creative Writing at Edge Hill University and wanted to make a post sharing some information on the course and tips!

I had a great three years and particularly enjoyed the variation of topics studied on the course. In first and second year, we studied poetry, short stories, script and narrative games. This was great as in third year, we got to choose many of our modules, tailoring our education to what we specifically wanted to learn.

Another great aspect of Edge Hill, was that we were given the option to choose a language to study. This meant that I got to learn Italian during my first year!

The Creative Writing department facilitated many events throughout the year as we got to attend author talks and there is even a chance to take a trip to London for a book event.

My advice for anyone interested in studying this subject would be to take advantage of all that university has to offer. Keep up to date with events on campus, even the ones that may not seem relevant as you never know where it could lead. Take advantage of the Student's Union as you can join and even create a society. I created a writing society which was a great experience. I made friends and gained new skills which I can use in my future career.

I developed massively as a writer throughout these three years and would recommend Edge Hill for anyone interested in studying Creative Writing!
