upcoming SQA results day - goodluck + where to go for support (:

Hi everyone (:

Wishing u all the best of luck with SQA results day!! <33

Just a wee reminder- no matter what that email or letter says, your worth is not defined by a set of grades!

If you tried your best, truly, that’s all anyone can ask of you. Results can feel massive in the moment, but just remeber that there are so so many different routes into uni, college, apprenticeships, or wherever you want to go next! One result doesn’t determine your entire future- it just might change which path you take to get there. And that’s okay! (:

Be kind to yourself. You’ve made it through a whole year of hard work, and that’s something to be proud of!!

If your wanting to chat or needing some extra support, please dont be afraid to reach out, results day is a tough time and me & the all other TSR team members are on here, alongside your teachers and school careers advisors if your wanting to have a chat through how your feeling and potential next steps (:

Best of Luck!!

Thank you for sharing this!! I had left a similar reply to another thread but just wanted to ask something, i didn't get the grades i hoped for in s5. H english: B, H ModSt: D, Higher business: D, Higher maths: B, Higher music: C. which im still confused because i did better in my prelim!!! and i studied so hard everyday trying my absolute best and didnt go outside for weeks. and i'm going into s6 now doing advanced higher english + modern studies, and higher spanish + rmps. i know these results are way below what places like glasgow and strathclyde usually want especially for law but i still really want to apply. is there any point applying if i get better predicted grades this year? has anyone been in a similar situation and still got offers? not expecting miracles just trying to be realistic. I was so gutted and i felt so defeated especially after all my hard work doing after school study sessions etc.. and now i was just so upset im not sure what to do and this felt like such a embarrassing question i feel like i have no hope. Does anyone have any advice?

Have you spoken to your school about your grades?

Not yet. I will try to very soon. Please be honest is this something i should be terrible worried about?

Looking at Strathclyde, Law LLB entry requirements are:

Standard entry requirements:
1st sitting: AAAAB
2nd sitting: AAAABBB
(Higher English B, Maths/Applications of Mathematics National 5 C, or equivalent)

Minimum entry requirements:
1st sitting: ABBBB
2nd sitting: AABBBB

You are currently at BBCDD
You are about to do 2 Advanced Highers and 2 more Highers?

The reason I am saying talk to your school is I think you need to understand why you got the grades that you did. From your description of how hard you worked, it sounds like these grades were a big surprise and for me - that would be the biggest concern in all of this.

The next question is, are you eligible for widening participation? In which case you're looking more towards the minimum entry requirements rather than the standard ones.

The third question is, are advanced highers the right thing for you to do next? Or would completing more highers be the better option for getting into Law?

You are definitely priced out of the Glasgow course as things stand, Strathclyde looks possible but not a very wide possible. But there are a few questions now that I can't answer.

Thank you for being realistic. I understand I am shocked too. I’m going to meet with my teacher soon I think. But i heard that if I somehow achieve good predictions for my s6 subjects such as BBAA for my advanced highers and highers and a good personal statement i can somehow go through the right path? I’m also sitting the LNAT next month.

Don't decide anything without your LNAT result and if that's promising then it may be worth you getting in contact with Glasgow to see what they say. I still think the first thing you need to do is sit down with several teachers and find out why those results went the way they did. Are they able to give you a break down of the different components to find out where you struggled most? Are they able to access exam scripts to see what happened on those papers? They would be the questions I ask.
