Registering for clearing

Hi! I don't know much about registering for unis before results day but I have had an email from Sheffield saying to register for a 'priority clearing spot' does anyone know if this is useful to actually do?

Registering for a priority clearing spot is usually a good idea, it doesn’t commit you to anything, but it means the university (in this case, Sheffield) knows you're interested and might fast-track your application if you decide to go through Clearing.

Its just 'marketing'. They want your email address so that they can send you endless marketing emails about Clearing. It doesn't actually mean that you get 'priority' for a clearing place - on Results Day they will just want anyone with the right grades, they won't give a monkey's where you are from or if you 'registered' or not.

Hi niamhdoh1, 👋

It is definitely worth doing in my opinion. When speaking with others in my past cohort, they registered and were accepted onto their course via the fast-track priority clearing.😀

If you'll be getting your results in august, registering for clearing allows you to put your name down ahead of the results day rush: you will only need to confirm your grades on the day. Then they can fast track your application and, should you want to speak to anyone on the phone, they will prioritise your call.

It should be very quick to register so I'd say go for it as what's there to lose? 😄

If you haven't already seen, we have a webpage with information on the clearing process and on securing accommodation etc, so the link is here if you want to have a look!

Please do let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be more than happy to help!

Good luck with results day! 🤞🤞

All best wishes,
Phoebe 😀
