Community mental health team diagnosis

How did your first assessment go, as in, did you get a diagnosis, or told what they think you have wrong.
Did you see a nurse, and for how long before seeing your psychiatrist again.
When you finally got a diagnosis.

This type of thing generally varies place to place but you are unlikely to get a diagnosis on a first assessment, as those are usually more to get to know you and determine if the team can help you. Bear in mind that I was first getting assessed as a minor, so if you're over 18 this might be less relevant.
My first assessment was with a mental health nurse and I was assigned a psychiatrist once they put me on their caseload, then I had a therapy appointment once per week and I saw the psychiatrist every few months for check ins and medication review. In terms of timelines for getting a diagnosis it really depends on what you would be getting diagnosed with. In my experience the more uncommon/requiring speciallised training a condition is the longer it takes to get diagnosed. So getting an anxiety or depression diagnosis might happen within a few weeks, maybe 2-3 appointments, but a diagnosis for a mental health condition like bipolar or a neurological condition like ADHD will take significantly longer as you'll need a specific assessment.
Getting mental health treatment is honestly really difficult and requires a lot of paitience. It can take a lot of trial an error to find what works for you, but please believe that something will work and you do have the capacity to get better. I really hope this was useful for you and your assessment goes well

Was seen by a psychiatrist and given a diagnosis and treatment recommendations on the first assessment. I'd had a lot of input from a specialist primary care service prior to that though.

First appointment with my psychiatrist, he told me at the end his professional opinion is that I have bpd. That was 6 months ago.. I see my keyworker once a month, still no word on getting an assessment for a diagnosis. And also, he told me I could go to dbt therapy, she then told me the same thing when I asked, they have been panning me off about it, apparently I am too unstable! They wanted me on medication first! They said it's my choice, but they talked about it every session!

The "professional option" is the diagnosis, no?
