ucas clearing 2025

i'm currently holding an offer that i'm set on rejecting to go into clearing; i know that clearing applications are already open but teachers have advised us to hold onto the offer until the day to reject it depending on our results - does making a clearing application on the results day set me at a disadvantage at all? should i instead consider submitting an application now (and rejecting my offer) if i am so set on going for clearing?

You cannot enter Clearing until you have your results.
Like everyone else you will just have to be patient and wait for Results Day.

Hi,
I hope you are well!😊

You've had some really helpful advice on this thread so far, but I thought I'd hop on here and give you a few top tips of how to prepare for results day!🙂

🗓️ A level results day is on Thursday the 14th of August 2025!

The UCAS website has some amazing advice and support for students, so check out their pages! You can find information about what your application status means, what happens if you have been accepted, what to do if you have changed your mind, and what to do if you want to decline your firm place. Familiarise yourself with these UCAS pages so that you understand what you need to do on results day to get to where you want to be!

Tip 1. Prepare early!🗓️
Do your research- Whatever you might want to use clearing for, it's better to be prepared ahead of results day than panic on the day!

Clearing really is for everyone, if you have changed your mind about the course you wish to study, or even the university you would like to go to, then clearing can help you get to where you want to be. Take a look back at your five UCAS choices for example, or new courses or universities which you are interested in. Make sure the course/university is right for you! You could make some pro/con's lists to help you with this.

Tip 2. Make a note of some important information📝
•Make sure you have a list of essential information such as your UCAS ID and login details, your Clearing ID (which is available on UCAS Hub when you enter into clearing), and the clearing hotline information☎️ and opening times for the universities you might want to contact on results day.
Have your results and GCSE results written down too, as well as your personal statement (in case you are asked questions about this), and any additional qualifications which may support your application.

Tip 3. Prepare for collecting your results🚶
•Make a note of times you can collect your results from, and where you will need to collect your results.
•If you are on holiday- like I was! Make sure your school is informed and you have followed the correct procedure for allowing someone to collect your results on your behalf🙂

Tip 5. Try to stay calm, be positive and flexible about your options
•Getting ahead will make the process a lot less stressful!
•Be positive and be proud of what you have achieved! A-levels are not easy, and no matter what happens on results day, you should be incredibly proud of yourselves!😊

Some of your teachers and staff may be there on results day, so they should be able to support you if you need anything. But I would recommend preparing beforehand using our top tips, try to collect your results as soon as you can on the day so you can make your decisions and enter into clearing, and start calling the universities you are interested in straight away as the popular courses may fill up quickly!🙂

I hope this helps you to prepare!😊

Let me know if you have any questions, and if you are interested in any of the courses at Kent, head over to our Official University of Kent Clearing Thread 2025!

Best wishes for results day!🍀
