A-Level Graphic Design: Personal Investigation

I'm doing Graphic Communications/Design and for Year 13, we need to do our Personal Investigations.
I chose to base my personal investigation around "exploring the use of graphic design and its effect on story games". By story games, I mean game such as Last of Us, God of War, Cyberpunk 2077, etc. However, this may be a very hard topic to focus on and I need a lot of help. The first thing we have to do is research Artists and Designers based on our topic, but the problem with my topic is, is that there are various Artists/Designers that work on different parts of a story game. After that, we are tasked to create transcriptions of our Artist's work but how would I even be able to do that? Need help urgently!
Artstation is your friend  it's a portfolio website and often artists will publish finished work from games after they release. If you search Artstation for the games you want to research, you'll be able to find people that worked on them (and likely find other games they've also worked on on their profile!) They will usually also have some description of their work in the posts which might help you get a headstart on the transcriptions.

Hi! That sounds like a really interesting topic, however I agree that it seems difficult to focus on. My advice would be to try to be more specific. Perhaps start out with broader research and narrow it down as you go. "story game" is very wide as most games have a story so I'd probably recommend being more specific with genre. Also, you could focus on different aspects of the games separately, or pick one and go into detail about it. For example : character design, environments (buildings, landscape, skybox), UI. This will help with the issue of having too many artists to choose from. Personally, I think that focusing on the UI (HUD, menus, icons) would be most interesting for a graphic design course. But whichever direction you go, I think it'll be really interesting.
