An economics degree's worth?

New chat
Hello, I’m currently an A-Level student planning to go into an Economics degree with Accounting. My long term goals are to either work at a think tank or open my own accounting firm. However, I have a few concerns:
What is the real-world value of an Economics degree? How will AI impact accounting careers, and should I be worried?
Is it difficult to get a job with an Economics degree? What does the job market look like?
Overall, is this a strong career path for the future?
thanks in advance

Most of these questions are far too vague to provide helpful answers to. For example, the difficulty in getting a good job with an economics degree will vary hugely based on what university you go to. The real world value will also vary hugely person to person, but in general it has the highest average salaries both 1 and 10 years after graduation.

Hi there @simbab,
This page Prospects UK is great way to research on possible career paths and find out more about what to expect as an economics graduate. That said, no matter what field of study you are in, the most important thing is that you make the most out of your degree and choose a course that you are able to succeed in 🤗
University is also a place to develop your soft skills, meet new people and gain new experiences, so what matters most is what you do to make it worthwhile.
Wishing you the best of luck in your academic journey!
