Ikea uni stuff

I watched a vlog where a girl got an IKEA Uni Essentials box and it looked really good, but I can't find out online if they still make them. does anyone know?

Hi there,

I am not sure about IKEA, but I used to get something similar when I was moving into the UniteStudents accommodation. You can purchase such things right on their website. Same with the Student Roost where I am living now. If you are staying in private halls, I advise you to have a look at the accommodation provider's website, they usually have their own essential boxes available to purchase.

Best regards,

It's usually cheaper if you get your own stuff together. Supermarkets such as Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury's have homeware departments where you can find kitchen equipment and bedding, etc.

Hey!

They had these boxes when I moved into uni. They're fine, but IKEA stuff is generally not very durable. I ended up buying a box and some extra bits then doing the maths on how much it all cost. Afterwards, I went into Dunelm and found tons of much nicer looking plates, mugs and other kitchenware for around the same price as a lot of it was on sale and they also had a student discount going, so I ended up going back to IKEA the same day and returning everything! Though the box offers convenience, it's not super customisable and might give you things you'll rarely use, so it's worth shopping around.

If you're still interested, I think they bring them out around the end of August/beginning of September and in my town they had tons of them in the kitchenware section.

Good luck shopping!

Hi @Bee2008

I thought I would just link a post I did last year about getting uni essentials cheaply
The best places to shop for moving to uni (cheaply) - The Student Room

I also know that here at Kingston they have a discount with a company that does uni essentials kit, so maybe if you have a look on google you might find some.

I hope this helps

Charity shops have most of what you need very cheaply, you will likely find that another student in the flat will lend you things like a bottle opener etc.
