LBB UoN material

Hey everyone, I will be attending the university of Nottingham this September, and I will be doing Law LBB. I was wondering if there was anything current students would recommend to study/ do before getting starting the course. Also being an international student I would really love to start to get familiar with the legal system of the UK, so is there any YouTube show/ podcast or book which anyone would recommend to get.

Thanks.

Hi there @Lorenzovc:hello:

It's great to hear that you will be joining us this September to study our Law LLB!

Our Law academics suggest that students read one or two of the following texts (whichever interest you the most!) in their time off before joining us to get them thinking about the UK law and legal issues:

Catherine Barnard, Janet O'Sullivan and Graham Virgo (2011) What About Law?: Studying Law at University Hart.

Rt Hon Lord Bingham of Cornhill KG PC FBA, Tom Bingham (2011) The Rule of Law Penguin.

Allan Hutchinson (2011) Is Eating People Wrong?: Great Legal Cases and How they Shaped the World Cambridge University Press.

Helena Kennedy (2019) Misjustice: How British Law is Failing Women Vintage.

Wade Mansell, Belinda Meteyard and Alan Thomson (4th ed, 2015) A Critical Introduction to Law Routledge.

Nicholas J McBride (2017) Letters to a Law Student: A guide to studying law at university Pearson.

Martin Partington (2019) Introduction to the English Legal System 2019-2020 Oxford University Press.

A.T.H. Smith (16th ed, 2016) Glanville Williams: Learning the Law Sweet and Maxwell.

I hope this helps! 🙂
