Results day - withdrawing

Say I get into my my firm or insurance and decide that I don’t want to go/dont want to defer and have a gap year and apply elsewhere, when do I have to withdraw my application by? When does the tuition fee start, also useful if I decide to drop out, how much money would I be in debt/ what’s the latest time without dropping out?

Hope this makes sense

You can withdraw/cancel your place at any point up to formal online enrolment without liability for fees - BUT be aware that often accommodation will have penalty fees for cancellation, or 'you will have to find someone to takeover your tenancy' etc, so check the paperwork very carefully.

Thank you  when will online enrolment typically happen? Closer to results day or the start of uni?

Usually a few weeks after Results Day.

Hi @anonymous483924,

Thank you for your message 😊 those are great questions!

At Oxford Brookes (and most other universities), you usually have until around two weeks after the start of term to confirm your decision about attending. If you leave before about week 4 of the semester, you typically won’t be liable for tuition fees, but it’s always best to double-check with the specific institution to be sure, as policies can vary.

If you do end up withdrawing later, universities can provide a breakdown of what portion of fees are owed, which is why it’s useful to speak to the admissions or finance team in advance, as they can give you the exact numbers and deadlines for your situation.

I hope that this helps!

Best wishes,

Clare

You will have a start date and have to sign forms to sign on for a course so just make sure you withdraw before doing either of those things.
