Need help picking project idea for OCR CS NEA

I have to pick a project idea for my coursework but I'm not sure what to go for. I have an idea but as it is summer break I cannot get feedback from my teachers. I want to program a football match simulator which takes in statistics from 2 competing teams such as historical results of last encounters, the possession rate teams have had in past 10 matches, the results from each teams last 5 matches to see if they are in good form etc.. I plan on using machine learning to predict the outcomes of the match(if I have ample time after I might try to make a timeline event by event in a match e,g 60' minute goal/red card/penalty etc). Does this project have the scope to get in the A* band or would it be too complex/simple. I am planning to study math & statistics at university so I don't mind learning any new math required but I don't want it to go too deep as I won't have too much free time in year 13.

Thanks!

I would recommend checking out the mark scheme for the NEA. I found a useful post here: https://medium.com/@icodewithben/computer-science-a-level-project-writeup-guide-511507de8ee0

Often times the way to get the highest grade isn't necessarily about the quality of the code, but rather how you analyse what you have done and how you describe the problem/stakeholders etc. When thinking about the project you might want to consider who would be interested in the outcome, and how the development of the process might look.

Good luck with your NEA!
