Change or cancel SFE?

Hi,

I am currently enrolled to start a certHE with UoL online via a part time student loan from October. This has already been approved with no more actions to complete.

I have recently changed my plans and am now wanting to start with the OU instead, still with a part time loan but a completely different subject. I want to change my university and course on my application but it says I need to post a letter. Right now, I am on holiday for nearly 4 weeks and so won't be able to send the letter until it is too late.

Is it better to cancel my existing application and start a new one or is there another way?

I am also worried as the past two years my uni plans have changed alot, and so I have signed up for and cancelled my SFE a couple times, although no payments have ever been taken. I'm sure this doesn't make any difference to the decision but I just worry!

Hopefully someone knows the best course of action here. Thank you

Hi there,

Is it the Change of Circumstances (CO1) form that you're being asked to complete? If so, you don't need to post this to us.

You're fine to complete it online and then upload it to your account. We're currently processing these forms in 17 working days, just to let you know.

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,

Thank you! I uploaded it to supporting evidence the day I made this post; I hope this is the right place?

My university journey has been a bit on and off til now so i just wanted to check eligibility with you. So far, I have used one year of a full time in person loan for uni before leaving. Last year; I then applied for and was approved for a part time loan with OU but I cancelled it and didn’t start uni then, and it no longer shows on my account. This year I applied for the UOL loan for a part time course and got approved. The loan amount was about £3k less than the OU one. I have since decided that OU is a better fit, and so withdrew from the UoL course successfully and am trying to change my loan to an OU course that I am now registered for. Now i’ve submitted the change of circumstances form with updated cost course and uni etc. do you think everything will still be eligible? Sorry for any confusion haha

Many thanks,

Milly

Hi Milly,

If you're still studying with the OU and don't have a degree then you would still be eligible for funding regardless of previous study. Thanks, Jason

Hi Jason, I am planning to start with OU in Oct but waiting for my CO2 form to be checked. I uploaded this into 'upload supporting evidence' on my profile. I am worried this won't be seen or checked as I wasn't requested to upload anything here, but have been told online to upload this form onto profile. Is this the right place ? It says that it has been received.

Hi Milly,

It will go to be reviewed. Currently it takes 17 working days for evidence to be processed from when we receive it. Thanks, Jason
