Any thoughts?

I received my national 5 results and I was wondering if i can still do medicine. I got 4 Bs and 3 As as my results. I appealed one of my Bs because it wasn't what I anticipated.

First of all congrats on your results

The answer is YES

Nat5 is not the massive decider whether or not you can do a course

If you look at the requirements for medicine (found on UCAS website), notice they don't really mention nat5 as a requirment...

only higher and advanced highers

nat5 i would say is usually only there to help you progress into 5th year and find what your good at

Focus on doing well in your highers and advanced highers and get a good UCAT score

I also received my national 5 results and I got 5 As and 1 B but I might appeal for the B because it's not what I was expecting. I want to pursue medicine so I was wondering what subjects I'll need in higher to do so.

Hi there (:

huge congrats on your results!! sounds like u did fab😊

As blue was saying, yep, you can still do medicine!! (: - academics wise the main factor is your higher results & the ucat exam

occasionally N5's are mentioned on UCAS but usually these are C's/B's that they are looking for so sounds like your on track (:

Hi Pia (:

huge congrats on the N5's!! sounds like it went well🤗

entry requirements differ slightly depending on which unis your thinking of applying to so i'd have a look on the websites of each uni your potentially considering but generally you'd be looking for chemistry, biology and maybe another science or maths, again uni dependent!

wishing u the best of luck with your highers & future study!!

Thanks so much Emily for higher I picked chemistry, human biology, English, maths and rmps and I'm trying to get into st Andrews university so I'll try to get all As this year. I was wondering when I'm supposed to sit the UCAT exam and what advanced higher you would recommend for s6

No problemo! (:

Not too clued in on the UCAT myself since didn't take medicine! - but I think my friends who did had booked the exam around july-sept of S6 so that they would have these results before applications went out to unis!, best to have a look on the UCAT website as it should explain the process a bit better for booking the test and prepping for it! 😊

adv higher wise, on uni entry requirements it sometimes mentions adv highers they reccomend for the course, those would be best as will prep you the most for the course content and also the workload involved, i think my friends had done adv biology & chemistry, maybe also adv maths/physics (cant exactly remeber since a few years ago now!) - but would be best to check these just to ensure with med being quite competivite that your taking things that would benifit this 🤗 - i would look at this for any unis your considering as this may differ slightly between places!

hope this helps, goodluck!! 💜
