Edinburgh Napier Genre Fiction MA - thoughts?

Hello all,

I currently have an application in progress for Edinburgh Napier's online Genre Fiction MA (Starting January '26).

I was wondering if anyone has done this - or is currently doing this Masters - and if they could tell me what it's like? What reading there is? How demanding it is? What you wish you knew or were more prepared for before starting?

Honestly, anything that you could tell me about it would be greatly appreciated. I've not studied in 10 years, and I have ME/CFS and currently awaiting assessment for ADHD - so I really want to start on the best footing.

I've just finished this degree and loved it. If you're serious about writing a genre based novel, then this is the degree for you (no literary or poetry). It's workload is heavy, but that's to be expected for a postgraduate degree such as this. Lectures are all experienced published authors and the mentoring you get is really helpful.

Are you able to tell me anything more about the courses? There's very little information on their website about modules etc. especially comparative to other MA courses. I have emailed them, so hopefully they get back with more details.

You say the workload is heavy, can you elaborate on this please?
