Arrest without conviction when applying for midwifery

hi all, i’ve got an offer to start studying midwifery in september. i was arrested about 18 months ago for drug driving, but they were unable to get a blood sample so i didn’t get a caution or conviction. just for context i didn’t do it, i did use cocaine about 5 days before and the roadside tests can flag up for up to a week - but obviously i have no way to prove that. when i applied i didn’t declare any of this because they only ask for cautions or convictions, but looking into it it seems like this is something that could appear on an enhanced dbs. would this disqualify me from the course as i haven’t declared it? i really didn’t think id have to but im just panicking a bit now as im worried it could flag up.

If "they only ask for cautions or convictions", and you have neither, then you've provided complete and accurate information and so have nothing to worry about.

You might find the NMC's Criminal convictions and cautions page useful to read in full. The following is a relevant extract (with my added emphasis):

"Nurses, midwives or nursing associates must declare any cautions or convictions, unless these are for a protected caution or conviction, when they apply to join our register or renew their registration with us.

They also need to let us know if they are charged with a criminal offence, are convicted or receive a caution while they’re on our register."

You don't mention whether or not you were charged, but even if you were that would not be relevant as it would have happened prior to applying.
