Best Newcastle Private Halls

hey,
i missed the uni accom deadline and now looking into private halls for sept. bit last minute but hoping to find something decent.

i’ll be at st james campus so ideally want somewhere nearby or in the city centre.
my main things are:

ensuite if possible

max budget ~£8k for the year

decent atmosphere, not too quiet

been looking at private halls but there’s so many it’s hard to know what’s actually good. if anyone’s got recommendations (or places to avoid) i’d really appreciate it!

also not sure if it’s worth waiting when the uni accom reopens ?

thanks

I've chosen Market House as its perfect location right at the end of town. Plummer house is right beside too. Roman House is a bit further away but not too far at all, and this is accounted for in price. They all provide halls.

Deffo benefit of private is the guarantee of what you pick, although I suppose atmosphere might be a bit iffy in some places as there won't be as many freshers.

Good luck on your search! Its a bit daunting but I was so grateful I did it after I saw the problems that they had with the application portal.

I stayed in the Portland Green student village for my first year and I really enjoyed it and most of the people I met there were freshers and it was a mix of quiet and loud! I would definitely recommend looking at Shieldfield and Quayside areas as they have quite a few different ones in the same few streets so the atmosphere of those areas are always quite good and both are about 15 min walk from city centre.

I’d also recommend unite students city centre site as a few of my friends stayed there first year and they liked it.
