How do you structure the essay section for a successful score?
Is there any benefit to using a certain structure or complex vocabulary?
Any videos/ books/ tips/ strategies anyone recommends?
Thanks

Hi! For books, I really recommend the complete LNAT guide for 2025 examination. It’s the red book with the image of a courthouse on the front. It’s really useful. Online practice tests are also great for finding out where you are at in terms of scoring!!

There’s definitely benefits of learning a specific structure and I think you should practise using one. I like PEAL because it’s very simple. The most important part is having a coherent and clear line of argument, so make sure you have consistency throughout with your LOA & don’t leave out the conclusion!

As for vocabulary, don’t get hung up on sounding fancy or smart, as they want to see effective communication skills, which could be hindered by complex word choice.

I’d recommend reading articles on different topics (Science, food, law, politics etc.) and spacing out studying - you’re not memorising anything you’re trying to strengthen your skills.

Thank you so much! I will definitely take this advice into account. I’ll try to learn and stick to a specific essay structure (eg: PEAL)
Would it help bringing in points of argument (eg counter povs)
Thanks

This video is really good (go to about 33.14 for the essay)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ENQwTVlhsI&t=5s
It covers structure, fatal mistakes, etc. and is pretty reputable considering it's by an Oxford admissions tutor
