Politics and IR supercurriculars

hello i am looking to apply for politics and IR at a top university (2026 entry)
my predicted grades are A*A*A
however i have not got many extra curricular activities to talk about.
i have only done work experience, however this was at an international bank so i will be able to talk about it.

PLEASE can people give me book recs to get me started

also if you have time make sure to join your school's model UN if you have one, or even better - start one.

I believe Model UN helped me get into UCL for European Social and Political Studies, as well as degrees with IR in them at Bristol and Leeds. if top university in question is LSE though make sure you fully orient your PS around the course and say something properly interesting - when i went for an open day they told us that the key to a good personal statement is that it includes things like conclusions from what you've read/done that the academic reading it would really want to talk to you about - this is probably applicable across the board at the top universities to guarantee entry, and I really noticed it being important in my cambridge interview (though for languages) when what I wrote about was discussed. try to be discursive but not opinionated if you get what i'm saying
