Put on hold until results day

Ok so I’m not sure if this is everyone but I am a Scottish student who got their results on the 5th of August. I unfortunately did not meet my entry requirements for the offer. However instead of getting rejected I got put on hold. The university said they wanted to wait for A-level results day to see whether I would get in or not. I just wanted to know if this has happened with everyone who didn’t meet their offer this year. Or if it’s something that only certain candidates get?

Many applicants with borderline grades from 'other qualifications' will have been put on Hold until A level Results Day. Its simply so that Unis can be totally fair, and compare all applicants in this situation together before they make any decisions. No-one can guarantee that you will get a place, but clearly they think there is a reasonable chance otherwise they would have already rejected you. Try not to worry - there is nothing you can do right now, and endless 'what ifs' will drive you nuts.
