Urgent clearing question

Hi everyone, I was wondering how clearing would work for me considering I have extenuating circumstances which I submitted evidence for to my firm and insurance as I wasn't allowed to fill it on my UCAS application (my school refused). Therefore, my grades when applying to go through clearing may be different and because it's not said on my UCAS I'm unsure they would accept me, thank you for responding to this in advance. Also before anyone asks the reason why it wasn't added to my application was because a part of the circumstance directly implicates the school itself which was stated in the doctor and psychiatrist reports I had to submitt and is why they refused to be my reference for my application. I understand it's confusing for me to say they wouldn't let me submitt it, but I also don't want to explain what my circumstances are, I'm just asking for advice on how to handle this. Thank you.

During the clearing call with the uni of interest:

Briefly mention that you have extenuating circumstances which significantly impacted your grades.

Tell them you have medical documentation already prepared if they want to review it.

Let them know the circumstances weren’t included on UCAS due to issues with your school (you don’t need to explain more than that).

Ask if they would be willing to consider your application with this context (your grades vs their clearing entry requirement grades, which are often lower than their normal entry). They may want to see your evidence once they send you offer, and you accept it.

Hello @present-string

The clearing process would likely work in exactly the same way for you providing that you have all the necessary grades and satisfy all the entry requirements. There is usually some flexibility when it comes to entry grades but this very much depends on many different factors. If you do have the appropiate grades then you could always mention your circumstances to the clearing call handler who should be able to note it down on the system.

If you would like more tailored advise please do drop us a private message and tell us more about your circumstances and we will be happy to help you out the best we can. I do hope this has helped. If you have any further questions or anything at all please do let me know.
