Before the Fold — A Poem for the Night Before Results Day

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share the first poem from a collection I’m working on about the emotions and experience of results day. This one captures the tension and restless waiting the night before.

Night Before

The moon hangs
like an unblinking teacher’s eye,
watching me sweat over shadows.

My pulse scribbles graffiti
on the inside of my skin,
each beat spelling
a question I cannot answer.

The air tastes of unmarked paper,
and I keep dreaming
that the stars are grading me
in a language I’ve never learned.

If this speaks to you, I’d love to share more poems soon. How do you feel the night before big results or news?
