LNAT Panic

Hey guys,

I have my LNAT on the 4th of September and I've been practicing a full test literally every day using LawMint (scoring mid 30s). Today I decided to try the official LNAT test on the pearson website and I got 21... I'm literally panicking because I am applying to Cambridge this year and I know for a fact that a score like that in the real thing would end me. I now have only 3 weeks left and I'm willing to do ANYTHING to raise my LNAT score. For anyone who was in the same situation as me but ended up doing well, PLEASE TELL ME THE MOST HELPFUL THINGS YOU DID :frown:((( (btw arbitio has been hacked so I can't use that).

Note that I've been finishing MCQs with around 20 minutes to spare each time so I might be rushing too fast

You can flag the questions for review as you go along for the ones that you are unsure of. Make a guess at this point in case you run out of time. Then at the end use that spare time to go back and re-read the flagged questions. You can then change any you feel are wrong.

Thought that MCQ part was tricky but manageable - I only did a handful of practice questions and the two past papers on the official website.
Essay part was good. Very happy with mine.

Well doneee!! I’m glad it went well! Would you say it felt pretty much the same difficulty as the exemplar ones on the official website?

and would you say the essay options they gave weren’t too niche/ hard to write about?

Thanks - hopefully I’m somewhere near where I need to be..
Yes, similar to official practice papers, maybe slightly more difficult, but I may have gotten a more difficult paper…
Choice of three essays, I found two of them to be potentially divisive and so I chose the other one as it was a little bit more generic. Not niche nor difficult, all three choices were subjects that most people could discuss and have an opinion on.
Good luck with yours - make sure you eat beforehand, I also had an energy drink to make sure my brain was alert, definitely worked!

Funnily enough I wasn't really that panicked when I finished. In terms of MCQs, I really just worked through it and didn't find anything particularly challenging (meaning I either did really well or terribly XD). In terms of the essay I managed to squeeze out 650-ish words: intro, main point, counter point (with rebuttal in the same paragraph), final point, then conclusion. So no complaints there. On the whole, I'm excited to see my grade in Feb.

If it makes you feel better, I thought the actual LNAT was harder than the practice papers when I did it (pressure is worse than when you do practice papers ofc!), but ended up scoring much higher in the real thing than in the practices. Same goes for a lot of people I know who sat the LNAT. Apparently it's quite common to do better on the day, so keep that in mind!
