Day in the life of a Paramedic Science student

Today i woke up to my 08:00am alarm (after hitting snooze a few times 😆) and then got ready for my 9am practical lecture at the Seacole building.

Today we were learning how to perform Advanced life support (ALS) in preparation for our end of year exam! This incorporates a range of skills such as: CPR, Intravenous/Intraosseous cannulation, Airway management, and the use of ALS drugs. The lecturers made this seem a little less daunting by teaching it step by step, building on our knowledge from the previous year.

After a pretty content-heavy session me and some friends decided to go make use of the SPACE simulation facility located at the Harbourne road building. SPACE is a bookable practice room, away from lecturers, where you and your friends from any course can practice skills you have learned in a more relaxed environment. I find it helps me to build my confidence before putting them into practice on placement.

As we were all getting hungry we decided to head across the road to Morrisons cafe 😋 and treated our selves to an English breakfast, which was well deserved after all that work !

This was an especially exciting day as we had a social planned with the Paramedic Society, the famous karaoke night! We headed home, excited for everyone to hear our fabulous singing (or not 😆) and to meet our course mates for what always ends up being the best social of the year!
