Clearing 2025

Most unis have now posted their final list for clearing courses. If a course was on clearing before but now it's gone, is it worth to still call the university to ask if its available?

Hi Khaled333

I would still call just in case. Clearing can be a stressful thing with lots of pathways to go down and it's always good to check, not just for the possibility of an offer but also for clarification.

Hope this helps and good luck tomorrow

No. If there were still places they would have listed them.

Hello @Khaled333

You can indeed call the university and ask them if they have had any additional places come up as they may get students who have got a place at that university on that course who change their minds and decide to go somewhere else. However, this can be a risk because clearing is so competitive and they may just not have any more places on that course. It is always a good idea to have a backup plan, and if you are desperate to start university this year then you may need to be slightly more flexible about which course you apply for.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or anything at all please do let me know. Wishing you every success for results day tomorrow!

Unis will have already factored this expectation into their 'numbers'.
Calling about courses not listed as having vacancies is a total waste of time - including your own,

Having helped many students McGinger is correct , you will be wasting your time and other places will be going, however clearing is fluid, and some students will change tac and places could come available you just need to keep looking

Where is the most accurate place to review clearing courses ?
The UCAS search hub is horrible and not sure how “live” It is

Always look on Unis own websites.

Hi,
As McGinger has stated, the best place is the University's own website.
However, because Clearing is so dynamic, even those can be out of date at times.
If you are in doubt or have any questions, it is best to call the university directly. For example, at Lancaster we have our Clearing hotline open from 8am on Thursday 14th August (at 0800 298 9542) or via a Web form on the website. Other universities would have that too, and it's probably the quickest way to get accurate information.

Best wishes,

Hi Khaled333,

We would have to agree with Lancaster on this!

Depending on the course, there may be certain options that allow you to study something similar and ultimately achieve the same goal/career path, so it’s certainly worth giving the university a call.

Clearing teams are on hand to help you every step of the way and find the right option for you, so we would advise giving your chosen university a call even if it is just for clarification.

Good luck!

Hi @Khaled333. My advice would be to still ring the clearing line just in case. They may be able to offer alternatives even if the course you wanted is not in clearing anymore. Good luck and wishing you the best!

Hey @Khaled333,

Definitely! It's always worth giving a university a call, or even dropping them a line via their web chat or social media.

Make sure you have your UCAS number and exam results to hand 🙂

Hope that helps!

Hey @Khaled333 ,

Yes, it’s definitely worth calling!
Even if a course no longer appears on UCAS Clearing, admissions staff can give you the most accurate information, and in some cases they might consider you if your application fits, especially if they’ve had withdrawals or didn’t fill all their places.
When you call:

Have your results, UCAS ID, and personal statement points ready.

Ask if there are any similar courses or alternative routes available if the original course isn’t open.

It’s a quick step that could make a big difference—worth a shot!

Hope everything goes well!

Hi,
As many others have suggested, I would also suggest that you call the university for the most accurate information.
Best wishes
