Transfer to another university alright?

Hey guys! Im a international student, please forgive my grammar errors.

Long story short, due to personal issues which affected my performance on my second year studies in University therefore i failed in a pretty bad result.

Altough I failed my second year but I have some pretty good grades for my first year, can i transfer to another Uni and also start from second year? Because starting all the way from year 1 is gonna causes me financial problems, so I wonder if i can go to another Uni and be a student study second year.

If i failed my second year, will i get a certificate which indicates my stage in education? I have heard people who either failed or withdrawl got a certificate for them to apply to another uni or for job application. I asked my Uni about this but they are quiet slow on replying, which is nothing useful from them.

Is there anything I can do? its already August which make me really nervous due to my student VISA ends in October. If i cant find a University to stay Im affraid i must leave but I really enjoy living here, so many local english friends and football teams can be never be seen in my life.

If you have personally experienced this type of situation or you have heard from anyone please write down below as I really need some guides for my future. Thank you

Hello.

Transferring isn't impossible, but it can be a tedious process.
I'd recommend checking the Transfer FAQ for where to start, but given you're an international student, it may add additional hurdles.

What course is this for?

The new uni you want to apply to will ask for a reference from your existing uni and they may share your latest exam results (not your year 1 results)

Hi, thank you for your reply.

I want to apply to another university for BA Architecture course, which is what I'm studying in my current university.

Thank you for reply.

If I failed second year and they will still ask for my Second year results? 🫠

I'm really sorry for what you've been through and I understand this can be very stressful for an international student who has visa limitations.

In your case, another university might only offer you a place starting from first year, but you can still ask, as some might consider partial credit if your failed modules are few and the syllabus matches. If you leave your current university without completing your degree, you may be awarded a Certificate of Higher Education (CertHE) if you have passed the first year. This is an official qualification showing you have completed Level 4 (first-year) study, and it can be useful when applying to other courses or jobs. Whether you receive this automatically depends on your university’s regulations, you’ll need to confirm this with them.

Alternatively, if you really want to stay in UK, I recommend you looking to switch to other visa types, for example: https://www.gov.uk/youth-mobility/eligibility please go to the Home Office website to check out other visa types you might be eligible for.

Best of luck!
