Making a new UCAS application to enter Clearing

Can I still apply for clearing if I have not applied to university this year? I was planning on taking a gap year but there is a course I wanted to try to get into.

Yes, but you need to be smart.
Make your UCAS account now.
The application system is currently in read-only mode until 8am tomorrow.
At 8am you'll need to make an application (by filling out your details and qualifications), pay the fee and then you'll be able to use clearing.
I would try and get autofill set up on your browser, so you can minimise the time it takes to make and send the application. Universities won't be able to give you a clearing offer unless you've got a UCAS ID, so it's paramount you do this.

Hopefully the course isn't a high-demand one that sells out in minutes.

Is there anyway I can set up a UCAS account beforehand? And also by filling out applications do you mean where you put all the GCSE grades, names, address etc. because if that was the case I did do that in my school account but I since I didn't want to apply to uni at January I did not do a personal statement

If you did it with your school account, login and then change the email. Your access to school emails will soon be going and you'll need it for enrollement etc.

It's much to late to be crafting a PS at this stage. I would have a few bullet points to hand as to why you want to study the subject.

What about references how does that work?

If you linked your application with a buzzword then the centre is meant to write your reference. They should have some form of it (however imperfect it may be) on file.

If you could head down to your school, your 'ucas person' should be able to help you get this done. Ideally get all of your applications sorted so that you've paid and sent it off (pay and send flags the application to your school that you're ready to send it off)

Hi there,

I hope you're well and it's great that you're considering uni!

I would take note of the key dates for clearing! It has already opened, however, it closes on 20th October this year (giving time for those who want to go onto courses with September starts!)

I made a thread about making a clearing application here. I went through clearing myself and directly contacted my uni!

Here's another post I've made which may be helpful too
My experience

Hopefully, this helps you out!

Hello!

At the University of Leicester you do not need a UCAS account to receive offers through clearing!

If you are interested, then please give the Clearing Hotline a call on 0116 373 6000 before we close at 6pm!
