Hi!

I thought you might also find it useful to hear from a student at Hallam too! I don't do this course, but I have lots of general tips and advice from being here for three years so far which you might find helpful.

Have a look at what societies we have and see if there are any you would want to join. These really are great and a great way of meeting lots of new people and making friends. Everyone I know who has joined them has a great time and I've been a part of the netball and trampolining societies during my time here which have been really fun and everyone has been so lovely.

See if there are any events that you like the look of too. Our SU puts on great 'give it a go' events where you can meet new people and do some fun things at the same time. They have been to the ice hockey to watch the Sheffield Steelers, trips to other cities like London and York and also to Alton Towers. It's fun to get out and do something and meet some new people too.

Don't be afraid to ask people for help if you need it. There genuinely is a lovely feel at Hallam and people are really welcoming and friendly. If you need any help at all, don't hesitate to ask. We have a great Hallam Help team or just any staff in general really.

Similarly, make use of the support that you have here. Every student will have access to three teams of support - an academic advisory team, an employability team and a student support team so if you ever need any help just ask and they will be there for you.

The 'chat to students' feature that Hallam have mentioned already is really great so check this out too if you want to chat to any other students!

I hope some of these are helpful but please get in touch if you have any questions 🙂
