Clearing question

If the course I want to do isn’t listed as a clearing vacancy as it is full, could there potentially be places if the applicants who chose it decide to withdraw or go through clearing themselves, are they are effectively freeing up a space on the course and it could appear in clearing later in the day?
Potentially, yes. But wherever possible unis will always try to slightly oversubscribe a course to allow for a number of students to change their mind, change course or drop out without needing to resort to clearing.

Hello @anonymous483924

This can indeed happen but you should not rely on this option for getting onto a particular course at a particular university, particularly when the course has been filled up in the main cycle. For instance, if this did happen and it was a popular course it would most likely not be in clearing for very long.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or anything at all please do let me know. Wishing you every success for results day today!

All you are doing is delaying calling a Uni that does have vacancies.

Yes, that can happen, but it’s not guaranteed.

If you’re set on that course, your best bet is to:

Call the uni directly and ask if they expect any spaces to open later

Check UCAS regularly throughout the day

Have your details ready so you can move fast if it pops up

Call other universities that have vacancies

Good luck!

Hi @anonymous483924. My advice would be to keep checking clearing quite often through the day. I would also make sure to call the Universities admissions line and tell them your interested in course. It is possible that they might have a waiting list or they may update you if there's availability for a course. Make sure not panic as the admissions advisors will provide you with the best advice possible along with any alternatives. Good luck and hope it goes well!

Hi,

You can always call them on their clearing hotline and ask if there is a vacancy on the course and if they can add you to a waiting list.
However, I don't recommend that you rely on this as your main plan, as other course vacancies in different universities may get filled up while you're waiting for someone to withdraw from this particular course/university.
Best of luck🤗

If your chosen CCCU course isn’t in Clearing right now, it usually means all places are filled. However, spaces can open later if some applicants decline their offer, switch courses, or get accepted elsewhere. When that happens, the course may appear in Clearing again sometimes even the same day.

Tip: Keep refreshing the CCCU Clearing list and call the Clearing hotline regularly, as updates can happen quickly. 📞
💬 Has anyone here managed to secure a CCCU spot after it reappeared later in the day? What was your experience?

Hi there,

Yes occasionally spaces do open up later in the day if offer holders don’t meet their conditions, choose a different course, or decide to go elsewhere through Clearing. When that happens, the university can sometimes release a small number of extra places into Clearing.

It’s not guaranteed though, and it can happen quite quickly, so if you’re really interested in that course it’s worth:

Calling the university’s Clearing hotline to let them know you’d like to be considered if spaces open.

Checking the website regularly some universities update Clearing vacancies multiple times a day.

Having a backup choice ready in case that course stays full.

If you let the admissions team know you’re keen, they can often advise you on the likelihood of a place and sometimes make a note to contact you if one becomes available.

Hi @anonymous483924,

Good question! It's possible that those with offers might withdraw, freeing up a space. But we always recommend having back-up options, rather than limiting yourself to one course.

What course are you looking at? There is likely to be many universities offering subjects you're interested in.

I'd recommend checking out university websites, or calling up their Clearing hotlines to find out more about your options.

Thanks,
