Hi Sofia, I just got rejected from my firm choice at Sheffield, I’m not sure how to go about clearing, and I’m an international student, I’m also having problems with UCAS, I’m not sure how to do it

Hi Kirsten,
The process for clearing is the same whether you are an international or home student. Besides UCAS, you can also use the university website to see if your course is in clearing (https://sheffield.ac.uk/clearing). You can also phone +44 114 212 9900 from outside the UK to contact us regarding clearing.
I hope this helped, and I wish you the best of luck!

Hi, I got accepted through clearing and I was wondering how I can apply for accommodation as it's been formally accepted on UCAS and I'm a bit confused on how to apply as I need a username and password but there hasn't been an email providing me one? Thank you!

Hi kira felix, 👋

It's great to hear you got into Sheffield through clearing.

Southampton and Sheffield would both be great universities to study computer science so it really comes down to whichever one feels right for you. The course itself is of course important so checking modules of each course would be really useful. But also think about which campus you like the look and feel of and the city itself!

When I came to Sheffield at undergraduate, I fell in love with the university and city and have since completed my MA and now I'm back for my PhD too. The campus is so easy to navigate and there's so much to do. The staff are also so knowledgable and passionate and that really comes through in each interaction.

I haven't done computer science but if you would like to chat with a current computer science student, follow this link and an ambassador would be more than happy to help and give you some insights into life on the course.

If you have any specific questions about the university, feel free to drop them here and I would be more than happy to help. I definitely recommend Sheffield and think you would love both the city and the university! 😄

Best of luck making your decision!

All best,
Phoebe

Hi mkirby29, 👋

It's great to hear you have been accepted through clearing! I'm sorry that you are struggling to apply for accommodation.

You should receive an email with instructions on applying for accommodation as you are guaranteed a place (when you apply by 3rd September).

If you still haven't received an email, I would get in touch with the accommodation office to ask when you might receive log in details and to get more guidance on how you can go about applying for accommodation.

Here is their email: [email protected]

They should be able to advise you, but if you do have anymore queries, feel free to drop them here and myself or a colleague will be happy to help you further! 😄

All best wishes,
Phoebe
